Excavating Foreman — Full Time

Location: Waverly, IA (projects within ~1 hour) | Home every night

Position Overview

Steege Construction / SCI Concrete & Excavating is hiring an Excavating Foreman to lead a crew on a variety of dirt projects including site grading, underground utilities, and other dirt work. This is a hands-on role for someone who can keep a job moving, communicate clearly, and take pride in doing it right the first time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small crew on site grading, underground utilities, and general dirt work

  • Plan daily tasks, coordinate equipment/materials, and maintain production goals

  • Communicate with project managers and other trades to keep jobs on schedule

  • Read and interpret drawings/plans for layout and execution

  • Support jobsite safety, quality control, and crew accountability

  • Use GPS equipment when available (preferred)

Requirements

  • Ability to lead and manage a small crew

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to read drawings/plans

  • GPS experience preferred, not required

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform physical jobsite work

  • CDL License or ability to obtain in a timely manner
